Fall 2013 Events

Re-Entry Ministry 16th Annual Banquet. Bridgeport, CT, Sat., Sept. 14th.  Our dear friend Queenie Mims has been operating this faith-based home on the East side of Bridgeport for women for almost four decades without any state funding - a miracle! Among other things, they are raising money and awareness for a new location on Fairfield Avenue on the west side of Bridgeport.  Our friend and colleague Erika Tindill, Chair of the State of Connecticut Board of Pardons & Paroles, will be one of the speakers.  We will be there in full support.

Bresnan Wedding. Sun., Sept. 15th, LaGrangeville, NY.  I will have the honor of officiating at the wedding of our friends Liz and George.

United Congregational Church. Sun, Sept. 22nd, West Norwalk, CT.  We are so excited for Rev. Holly Adams in her installation as Senior Pastor of this church - she has asked me to Guest Preach and speak about our ministries.

ABCCONN World Mission Conference. Fri. Sept. 27th & Sat. 28th, New Haven, CT.  Hopeton Scott, Senior Pastor of The First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, will lead Bible Study on Sat. morning.   If you are in or near New Haven on this Sat. morning, it is worth the time to be in a Bible Study with Pastor Scott!

The Nantucket Project. Fri., Sept. 27th - Sun. 29th, Nantucket, MA.  I am scheduled to present on Friday afternoon (right after Steve Case, what a trip!).  Stay tuned for blog entries about this weekend.

Friends & Family Day. Sun., Sept. 29th, Bridgeport, CT.  One of the biggest & best days of the year at The First Baptist Church of Bridgeport - lunch after for all.

Family ReEntry Annual Benefit. Sun., Oct. 6th, Greenwich, CT.  Joan Warburg generously donates her estate to host this annual event to raise funding and awareness for this nonprofit that serves the ex-offender communities in Fairfield and New Haven Counties. This is the organization that gave me my second chance - I serve on its Board of Directors. We hope you will join us in supporting this event.

Race & Religion in America.  A series of Wednesday evening suppers and workshops at The First Presbyterian Church, New Canaan, CT.  Rev. Paul Gilmore has invited my colleagues from Union Theological Seminary (Rev. Dr. Samuel Cruz, Rev. Frederick Davie, Charlene Sinclair) and others to be workshop leaders.  I will be leading a workshop on Wed., Oct. 23rd called "The Art of Surviving Prison" (not coincidentally the title of my upcoming book).  I will describe specific and graphic details about daily living conditions, survival skills, spirituality and transformation inside a modern day prison.

Goldberg Wedding.  Sat., Nov. 2nd, Branford, CT.  Last year I officiated as my dear friends Sharon and Bob Goldberg renewed their vows.  I will have the honor of officiating at the wedding of Sharon and Bob's daughter Becky to her finance Chris.

Greenwich Leadership Forum. Fri., Dec. 13th, Greenwich, CT.  In this unique format, I will be interviewed by host David Miller, Director of the Princeton University Faith & Work Initiative.
